I am Lisa Meehan and have been in education for 30 years.

Teaching Experience: My career spans first grade through high school in a variety of settings. I began teaching reading and  writing to students with special needs in 6-9th grade. While I stayed home with our three children, I continued to expand my education through coursework related to early childhood specifically in math, reading and art. Once our youngest kiddo started kindergarten, I returned to the teaching field as a guest teacher in K-6th grade for two years. I resumed full time teaching in a 1st grade classroom, 2nd grade classroom and 5th grade classroom over a span of 8 years. I taught for two years at the high school level teaching algebra to students in a resource room setting.  In addition, I supported students with IEPs in their general education coursework.

Currently: For three years I’ve been blessed in this role to come alongside families and support children from first through senior in high school.

For You: I am at the ready to help students in a specific area of need and/or be parent coach/guide/ support person to organize curriculum, assist teaching a topic, help with test taking, answer questions, or otherwise be a teacher support at your door. I look forward to meeting with you & make a plan for learning success!

I am Paul Meehan and have been a music educator for 33 years.

Teaching Experience: I received my bachelors degree in K – 12 Music Education from the University of Idaho and am currently in year 33 of teaching music.  My career has spanned from K-5 general music to middle school general music and choir, beginning band, middle school and high school band, choir and guitar classes and marimba performance classes.  My music performing and teaching has included trips to Australia (high school band) Japan (college pep band) and The Bahamas, Nicaragua and Uganda (marimba building programs).  In 2013 I was awarded the Distinguished Music Educator Award for Washington state from Yale School of Music.  I attended the Music Consortium at Yale University that year and participated in discussions about the role of music education in public schools.  I left that event feeling very thankful for my career path and the students I have the opportunity to teach every day.

Currently: I am currently in my 5th year of teaching 5th – 6th grade beginning band and 13th year of 7th – 8th grade middle school band on Bainbridge Island, WA.  I try to push my students to reach their full potential while also enjoying the learning process. I enjoy sharing and nurturing a love of music with others and seeing the joy that comes from performing together.

For You: I look forward to coming alongside your music students to help them develop skills in musicianship, music theory and performance and encourage them to continue to learn and grow as musicians and successful, creative students along the way.

During our lessons, students will focus on:

  • Producing a good tone/improving tone
  • Learning to read notes and rhythms
  • Learning to play scales and technical “skill building” exercises
  • Playing solo music and improving music from school band classes
  • I will also help them develop productive practice habits and routines that will help them with music and with life in general!
